WELCOME TO THE HONITON BRANCH

OF THE

NATIONAL ASSOCIATION OF dECORATIVE AND FINE ARTS SOCIETIES

The Honiton Society is a registered charity (registered charity number 1111757) run by an enthusiastic and lively team.  At our heart is the lecture programme, held on the second Tuesday of the month from October to June.  Our lectures are chosen to cover all aspects of the arts and are given by carefully selected lecturers chosen for their expertise and presentation ability.

We also organize a number of social functions and arrange outings to places of historic and artistic interest.  We encourage an appreciation of art in young people by supporting a number of Young Arts initiatives. We do not organize our own study days but support those arranged by the South West Area organization on behalf of 21 NADFAS societies in Cornwall, Devon and Somerset.  For more details on area activities please (click here or) refer to the area website on our links page.

People join NADFAS for a variety of reasons; to further their interest in the decorative and fine arts, to increase their knowledge, or to take an active role in the promotion and preservation of our artistic heritage.  Joining a NADFAS society is not just a great way to learn - it's also a fun way of making new and lasting friendships.  For information on NADFAS and the full range of activities please (click here or) refer to the NADFAS website on our links page.

Don't just take our word for it – come and try us out for yourself, first as a visitor or as a guest of a member, if you prefer. If you have queries or need more information, do contact us by email. If you wish to join, visit the membership page where an application form is available to print and send when completed to the Membership Secretary.

The paintings of St. Paul's Church and Honiton High Street at the top of the page are used by kind permission of local artist, Sally Boom.  The centre panel shows members of the Committee at the summer drinks party held at Cothay Manor, together with owners Mr and Mrs Robb.

Use the buttons above for more information on the programme and other activities.

Chairman's Comments

Welcome to our website.  I hope you will find it attractive and easy to use.

We have two aims: to interest as many new members as possible and, by keeping the various pages updated, to ensure that it provides useful information for current members.  We have tried to keep the website as compact as possible, reflecting what we, as a society, are doing.

For a broader view of NADFAS activities please visit the NADFAS website and that of the South West Area organization.  Similarly, we have not burdened the website with pages setting out our constitution and rules but these are available via the membership page if required.

We will give careful consideration to any comments you have and endeavour to respond positively wherever that is possible.

So, if you are interested in the arts, like our programme, and would like to learn more in a friendly environment, please come and see us at one of our lecture meetings.  We can guarantee you a warm welcome and look forward to seeing you there.

Heather Penwarden, Chairman.
