Much of Britain’s heritage is concealed in churches and religious buildings that are slowly being recorded by NADFAS volunteers. Church Recorders make records of the content of churches – memorials, metalwork, woodwork, textiles, windows, etc. Nationally NADFAS volunteers have recorded over 1000 churches, but there is still plenty of scope to record the numerous churches and religious buildings in our area. In 2002 the Society completed the recording of Uplyme Parish Church. The Church Recording Team has now almost finished working at Southleigh. Church recording is a fascinating project, and an opportunity to learn much about the history, architecture and fittings of churches, and of the community which has supported them for centuries. New church recording volunteers are always welcome. |
